Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer, Berkeley College

Mr. Leonard De Botton serves as Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer at Berkeley College and has been its CIO since 2002. Mr. De Botton has more than 29 years of outstanding leadership experience in the field of information technology at Berkeley College. He oversees the Administrative Technology Committee, Teaching and Learning Committee, Distance Learning Committee, and Information Security Committee. Mr. De Botton has been involved in Distance Learning since inception at the college well over 20 years ago. Mr. De Botton began his career at Berkeley College as a Programmer charged with implementing the College's first financial aid system. He was promoted to Systems Administrator and became the Director of the Computer Resources Department in 1995, where he began to oversee the College's technology. Mr. De Botton has been a Trustee of NJEdge.Net since December 8, 2012. Mr. De Botton is a board member of the Leadership Board for Chief Information Officers and has presented at numerous technology conferences, including those sponsored by the National Blackboard Conference and NJEdge.Net. He has assisted on the analysis presented in the Information Technology in Higher Education Survey of Chief Information Officers for a number for multiple years. Mr. De Botton holds a Master's degree in Information Systems from the University of Phoenix; a Bachelor's degree in Information Systems jointly from Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey and New Jersey Institute of Technology; and an Associate's degree in Information Systems from the County College of Morris.

Vice President for Information Technology and Chief Information Officer Emeritus at the University of Miami in Coral Gables Florida

Currently a principal at Lew and Lou consulting LLC, M. Lewis Temares, MBA, MS, Ph.D., is the Vice President for Information Technology and Chief Information Officer Emeritus at the University of Miami in Coral Gables Florida. He is also the Dean Emeritus of the College of Engineering at the University. Dr. Temares' University-wide responsibilities included academic and administrative computing, voice and data communications, and internal and external IT training through the Information Systems Institute for professional training. As the Dean of the College of Engineering, he was responsible for academic and administrative leadership of the sixth largest academic unit of the University. Dr. Temares is a speaker at national forums on leadership, IT planning and operations and has been published in multiple publications on Healthcare Information Technology. He has received many awards for his work in this field and is currently serving on research grants involving cyber security and photonics along with consulting on electronic medical record systems.

Executive Director of the Leadership Board for CIOs in Higher Education

Dr. Michael Zastrocky is currently Executive Director of the Leadership Board for CIOs in Higher Education. Prior to his work with LBCIO, he served as Managing Vice President for Academic Strategies at Gartner Inc. He has served as a faculty member at several universities, assistant dean, chief information officer, and vice president of CAUSE (now EDUCAUSE). He has delivered numerous keynote addresses around the globe and served as a faculty member for many institutes and seminars globally. He has written or co-authored numerous books, modules, research notes, and articles on information technology, mathematics, and management issues. He has served as a university trustee, school board member and a board member for both non-profit and for-profit education organizations around the globe. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Regis University in mathematics, a master’s degree in education administration from the University of Denver, and a Doctor of Education degree in technology and mathematics education from the University of Northern Colorado.

Vice President, Center for Digital Government and Center for Digital Education

Brian Cohen is the Vice President of the Center for Digital Government and Center Digital Education. Prior to joining the Center, Brian served for 30 years in IT leadership roles with the City of New York and most recently with the City University of New York (CUNY). As the Vice-Chancellor and University CIO at CUNY, Brian directed the Office of Computing and Information Services (CIS), developed, and managed the enterprise IT vision, strategy and day-to-day technology operations of the University. His areas of focus included academic and business systems, cloud strategies, IT policies and procedures, Cybersecurity, project management, IT resiliency and disaster recovery, and network and telecommunications. During his time with the City of New York, Brian developed the City of New York’s E-Government strategy, implemented the City’s award-winning nyc.gov website, and managed the City’s effort to address the Y2K technology challenge.
