The Center for Digital Government’s Digital Cities Survey provides the opportunity for city information technology organizations to highlight the great work being done, benchmark with their peers and identify future trends. This year’s survey will reflect current challenges and the changing technology landscape as everyone tries to return to some sense of normal.

On this webcast, CDG Vice President, Phil Bertolini and Surveys and Awards Director Janet Grenslitt will walk you through this year’s survey – the overall structure, what’s new and approaches you can use to fill it out. Sabra Schneider, the CIO of Bellevue, WA will also join us on the webinar to talk about how she uses the survey and tips for success. The webinar will also cover:

• The objectives and intent of the survey
• How to navigate the survey tool
• Next steps and timing for survey submissions
• Any questions the audience has and how to use the FAQs
• Announcing regular touchpoints with CDG staff throughout the survey

Sabra Schneider

Chief Information Officer, City of Bellevue, WA

Sabra Schneider is the Chief Information Officer for the City of Bellevue, Washington, where she has served for the past six years. Bellevue was honored in the 2020 Digital Cities Survey with a first-place award and has placed in the top five for the past 4 years. Sabra is passionate about advancing innovative technology for public good while supporting a diverse, engaged workforce. Previously Sabra led much of public facing technology for the city of Seattle and King County which included web sites, open data, social media and TV. She also taught computing and communications courses at the Evans School of Public Affairs at the University of Washington and South Seattle College. Sabra has an MPA from the University of Washington and a BA in Multimedia Communications from the University of California, Santa Cruz.

Janet Grenslitt

Surveys and Awards Director, Center for Digital Government

Janet Grenslitt is the Center for Digital Government’s Director of Surveys and Awards. She manages the Center’s flagship surveys and awards programs for state and local government. Working with subject matter experts, she created the Digital Cities and Digital Counties surveys more than 15 years ago. Prior to joining e.Republic, Janet managed programs for state and local government in Florida, North Carolina and California. She received her Bachelor of Arts from Duke University, with a certificate in Social Administration from Hull University in England, and her Master’s degree from University of California at Berkeley.

Phil Bertolini — Moderator

Vice President, Center for Digital Government

Phil Bertolini is the Vice President of Center for Digital Government, a national research and advisory institute on information technology policies and best practices in state and local government. Previously, he served as deputy county executive and CIO for Oakland County, Michigan. During his 31-year tenure, Phil built a world-class IT organization in the second-largest county in Michigan, just north of Detroit. As Oakland County CIO, he oversaw more than 150 employees serving over 1.2 million residents. In 2005, he was also promoted to deputy county executive, holding dual positions until his retirement. Phil’s efforts earned the county national attention, winning numerous awards for technology innovation and excellence. He was named one of Governing Magazine’s Public Official of the Year and Government Technology Magazine’s Top 25 Doers, Dreamers & Drivers. He was also honored by the President Obama White House as a Champion of Change for 2012.
