Monica Terése Carranza, Esq.

Digital Innovation Leader, Amazon Web Services (AWS)

Monica Terése Carranza, Esq. is an innovation and transformation leader with 15 years of industry experience as an IT leader focused on solving public sector challenges. Currently, Monica is a Digital Innovation Leader at AWS. As a member of AWS’ Worldwide Public Sector Digital Innovation team, Monica helps public sector customers learn and use Amazon's innovation mechanisms to solve mission-critical problems. Before joining AWS, Monica spent 14 years working in the public sector as an IT leader and attorney at both the City of Chicago and State of Illinois, during which time she led three large-scale digital transformation projects. Successful in providing a collaborative executive-level forum for strategic planning and decision-making, Monica is passionate about the role technology can play in enabling real solutions for her customers. Monica received an undergraduate degree from New York University and her law degree from Loyola University of Chicago law school.

 

Matt Melton

Senior Business Development Manager, Justice and Public Safety, Amazon Web Services (AWS)

Matt is a graduate of the US Naval Academy and served as a naval intelligence officer. Since leaving active duty in 2012, Matt has been focused on bringing innovation into the law enforcement and public safety communities. After working at multiple startups in the law enforcement space, Matt joined AWS in January 2018, where he focuses on working with agencies and technology companies to solve critical problems facing the public safety community.

 

Phil Bertolini — Moderator

Vice President, e.Republic

Phil Bertolini is Vice President of e.Republic. Previously, he served as deputy county executive and CIO for Oakland County, Michigan. During his 31-year tenure, Phil built a world-class IT organization in the second-largest county in Michigan, just north of Detroit. As Oakland County CIO, he oversaw more than 150 employees serving over 1.2 million residents. In 2005, he was also promoted to deputy county executive, holding dual positions until his retirement. Phil’s efforts earned the county national attention, winning numerous awards for technology innovation and excellence. He was named one of Governing Magazine’s Public Official of the Year and Government Technology Magazine’s Top 25 Doers, Dreamers & Drivers. He was also honored by the President Obama White House as a Champion of Change for 2012.
