Digital transformation and modernizing of capital programs are challenging and ongoing governance and regulations have put a spotlight on the lack of agility and adaptability of existing systems, forcing the industry to take a closer look.

The Ministry of Transportation Ontario (MTO), one of the largest transportation agencies in Canada, underwent a project to evaluate, select and go live with a new project management information system (PMIS) that fit all their specific program processes while adhering to security, regulatory, sustainability and governance requirements.

Together, KPMG Canada, Superset and Kahua successfully worked to modernize over 380 manual processes and integrated data with critical systems for MTO for a go-live within 13 months, a feat many know is unheard of when replacing legacy PMIS systems.

Steve Risi

Steve is one of KPMG’s most seasoned PMIS implementations and transformation delivery practitioners. Steve is an Associate Director at KPMG and Kahua Alliance Partnership Manager for Capital Projects & Infrastructure technology. He has over 12 years of experience leading the implementation of complex Capital Projects and Project Controls solutions in various industries for clients across North America. Steve has a strong understanding of capital project delivery, methodology, and governance gained throughout his career implementing PMIS solutions and transforming organizations into world-class leaders in project delivery. He understands the nuances of different project delivery methods and that the one-size-fits-all approach doesn’t work for projects of varying types, sizes, and complexity. Steve has been helping clients complete complex business transformations, process design and requirements gathering for PMIS in highly regulated government and public sector organizations with complex multi-stakeholder environments.

Arthur Terechtchouk

Partner Capital Advisory & Transformations, Superset Infrastructure

Arthur is a seasoned public infrastructure leader with 15+ years of experience leading and directing policy and technology transformation initiatives for transportation, civil, and energy clients across North America. Arthur is a trusted advisor for a number of senior executives across North America and founder of Superset’s Capital Advisory and Transformation team that works to deliver innovative PMIS solutions to the Alternative Delivery market, increasing private investor confidence and owner capabilities for successful project delivery. Prior to founding Superset, Arthur was leading Metrolinx's business systems, Ontario’s largest regional transportation authority serving 4 million passengers daily. He was responsible for the development and implementation of technology solutions across the enterprise in support of Metrolinx’s Big Move $42B transportation program, which included the expansion of transit rail, Light Rail Transit (LRT), subway, and Bus Rapid Transit (BRT).

Nicholas Johnson

Chief Evangelist, Kahua

Nicholas Johnson comes to Kahua with over 40 years’ experience in the design and construction industry. Starting his career as an electrical designer and drafter, he was among the first to create a career around CAD/CAM technology. That path led to a role in IT with Heery International, an Atlanta based design and construction company. In that role he learned about construction project management software, and a little start up company called Constructware. He was with the Constructware guys for 6 years before they were acquired by Autodesk. Since that time Nicholas has held sales leadership positions at Autodesk, Trimble Connected Water, Beck Technology, and Trimble e-Builder. He twice took two year working sabbaticals to serve a greater cause. The first with Amigos for Christ, a non-profit serving the poorest of the poor in Nicaragua, and more recently, with the Society of St Vincent DePaul, serving the poor here in North Georgia.

Craig Orgeron — Moderator

Senior Fellow, Center for Digital Government

Dr. Orgeron has extensive information technology experience in both the private sector and the federal and state level of the public sector. Currently, Dr. Orgeron is Professor of Management Information Systems in the Else School of Management at Millsaps College. After beginning his career as a communications-computer systems officer in the United States Air Force, he served as the Executive Director of the Mississippi Department of Information Technology Services (ITS) and Chief Information Officer for the State of Mississippi. In this role, Dr. Orgeron provided statewide leadership in the provision of services that facilitated cost-effective information processing and telecommunication solutions for Mississippi government agencies and institutions. Dr. Orgeron has served as an Executive Government Advisor with Amazon Web Services (AWS), President of the National Association of State Chief Information Officers (NASCIO) and on the Executive Committee of the Multi-State Information Sharing & Analysis Center (MS-ISAC), as well as participated in numerous government information technology task forces and committees, such as the Mississippi Broadband Task Force, the Digital Signature Committee, the Electronic Government Task Force, and the Governor’s Commission on Digital Government, which led to the implementation of the enterprise electronic government in Mississippi. Dr. Orgeron holds a bachelor’s degree in MIS, a master’s degree and doctorate in public policy and administration from Mississippi State University. Dr. Orgeron is a certified public manager and a graduate of the Senator John C. Stennis State Executive Development Institute, as well as the Institute on International Digital Government Research, and the Harvard University, John F. Kennedy School of Government Executive Education Series, Leadership for a Networked World, Cybersecurity: The Intersection of Policy and Technology, and the Harvard Business Analytics Program (HBAP).
