Deborah Snyder — Moderator

Senior Fellow, Center for Digital Government and former CISO, State of New York

Deborah is an accomplished C-level influencer, with a broad range of experience in government, policy, cybersecurity, privacy and information technology. An experienced and highly respected thought leader who has held executive roles for over two decades. She recently retired from her position as New York state’s chief information security officer (CISO) after over 35 years of public service. In that role, as part of New York state’s information technology transformation and consolidation initiative, she helped redesign how the state protects its data. As state CISO, she directed the state’s comprehensive cybersecurity governance, risk management and compliance program, providing strategic leadership and vision, and assuring business-aligned, risk-based investments that maximized business opportunity and minimized cybersecurity risk. She also directed the NYS Cyber Command Center, hotline, procedures for reporting and response to cyberthreats, and digital forensics.

Ron Nixon

Public Sector CISO, Cohesity

Ron Nixon is a Public Sector CISO at Cohesity, where he supports sales, engineering and product development efforts. Ron has held senior technical management and CTO roles with General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT) where he managed the defense cybersecurity program and supported over 200 programs. Ron also held CTO roles at CSRA and NES Associates supporting customer enterprises for commercial, defense, and government markets. Ron is a 23-year US Army veteran where he supported IT and cyber operations for Joint, Special, and Conventional operators and retired as the Senior Warrant/CTO for Operations at Army Cyber Command with direct global support to 1.4 million users in both strategic and tactical environments.

Brian Adair,

Director, Sales Engineering - SLED, Cohesity

Brian has over 20 years of industry experience related to architecting, selling and deploying data protection and storage solutions. Brian joined Cohesity in early 2017 where he focused on supporting and advising customers in the Midwest. He currently leads the sales engineering team for the State & Local Government and Education vertical and is front and center in many ransomware and security conversations for Cohesity.
