Alexander Izaguirre, Ph.D. MBA

Chief Data Officer, Vice President, NYC Health and Hospitals

Alex currently serves as the Chief Data Officer of New York City’s Health and Hospitals corporation (NYC H+H), where he is responsible for developing a comprehensive data and analytics program aimed at helping the system make better data informed decisions. Prior to joining NYC H+H in May of 2019, Alex served as an executive partner with Gartner Research, advising over 30 CIOs and information technology leaders in the health care space on how to best leverage technologies to; improve operational efficiencies, generate/utilize data and develop digital solutions. Alex’s strong professional brand at Gartner was in great part a result of his strong commitment to service as well as his health care technology experience gained by serving as vice president and CIO for Baylor College of Medicine, Houston TX and executive director of IT for the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School at Rutgers University, NJ. Alex also led the research technology effort for the Office of the Senior Associate Dean of Research for New Jersey Medical School. Collectively, Alex has led numerous process and technology improvement efforts to support the basic sciences, clinical and translational science research, electronic health system implementations and optimizations as well as medical and allied health professions education and LCME accreditation. Fueled by a general curiosity and persistent interest in solving complex problems, Alex taught himself foundational technology and software programming skills while earning his PhD in Viral Immunology from Rutgers University. As a researcher, Alex has proved himself an accomplished scientist in the field of viral Immunology. He has been published in a number of journals and was recognized in the 2008 Dolph Adams Award and the State of the Journal of Leukocyte Biology for the most highly cited original research paper in the previous five years. Alex has also held academic titles, serving as assistant professor at the Baylor University Medical School department of medicine and assistant professor for the department of biochemistry and molecular biology at Robert Wood Johnson Medical School where he taught immunology to medical school students and physician assistants in training. Alex has received numerous awards and grants for technology & innovation including a grant from the National Science Foundation for CC*DNI Networking Infrastructure: Enabling Frictionless Scientific Data Transfers in the Texas Medical Center and an honorable mention in the NetApp 2014 Innovation Awards. Alex has spoken at the Columbia Business School Healthcare Innovation Panel, the IHT2 Institute for Health Technology Transformation and NetApp Insight 2015. In addition to his Ph.D. in Viral Immunology, Alex holds a master’s in business administration and Bachelor of Arts for Biology and Psychology, from Rutgers University in NJ.

Nicholas Speece

Chief Federal Technologist, Snowflake

Nicholas Speece is the technical leader for the Snowflake Federal team. His vast experience of more than 20 years covers the areas of cyber security, enterprise data center hardware and software, software development, data analytics, and artificial intelligence. He is a ten-year veteran of the United States Air Force and a dedicated technologist.

Trevor Brown

Partner, Management Consulting, Analytics, Plante Moran

Trevor has over 25-years of experience in management consulting and is a partner at Plante Moran within their Analytics practice. His area of expertise is within data management, data governance and business intelligence, specifically helping clients to build out scalable environments to leverage trusted data in order to drive business, policy and program efficiencies. He is adept at assisting clients turn their visions into roadmaps and their roadmaps into reality. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Management Information Systems and Finance from Florida State University.

Joshua Erhardt

Director, Strategic Ecosystem Architecture Solutions (SEAS), Informatica

Outside of being an Informatica advocate, Josh specializes in enterprise data and analytic solutions, specifically in healthcare, financial, and retail industries. He has over 17 years of data management experience; project management, consulting, architecting and development of successful enterprise data foundations, over multiple ecosystems (on-premise and in the cloud). Josh combines his background in business and information technology, across healthcare, financial, and retail industries, to build scalable, sustainable, and transparent data management solutions. He has had the privilege to study under some of the founders of business intelligence: Ralph Kimball, Laura Reeves, and many others on his numerous successful implementations. His passion and love for his work is shown through his blogs, publications, presentations for SAP, Microsoft, TDWI, User Groups, and Informatica. Josh strives to set up others for success, as recognized by his Informatica Global Solutions Consultant Award for 2019. Josh is certified across multiple technologies (Informatica, SAP, Microsoft, etc.) Josh is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. Originally from Wisconsin, Josh enjoys living in Florida with his wife, daughter, son, and two rescue dogs. In his spare time, he likes to surf, skydive, and test his endurance limits.

Otto Doll — Moderator

Senior Fellow, Center for Digital Government

As the Minneapolis CIO for seven-plus years, Mr. Doll was responsible for all City IT services. Formerly South Dakota's CIO for 15 years with responsibility for all state government computing, telecommunications, state radio, and public broadcasting. While with IT research firms, Mr. Doll has advised Fortune 1000, Federal, State, and Local Government CIOs on information technology assessment and alignment to business needs. He has served as a Director with the United States General Services Administration, developing information technology strategic plans and oversight policy. Mr. Doll received his Computer Science degree from Virginia Tech and is a Senior Executive Fellow of the Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University. He is a past President of NASCIO — a national organization of state CIOs. He also is a past President of the Metropolitan Information Exchange (MIX) — a national organization of city and county CIOs. Mr. Doll was named to Government Technology's Top 25 Doers, Dreamers and Drivers.
