Nate has held leadership roles in several EdTech organizations, overseeing technology strategy, product development, and successful acquisitions. At AWS, he helps EdTech companies harness the power of AI and machine learning to drive innovation and improve learning outcomes.

Derek Root is the K12 Business Development Manager with Amazon Web Services. He has 30 years of experience in technology working across a wide range of industries including: manufacturing, insurance, medical, higher educational and hospital systems. Derek began his work in technology as a network, systems and security engineer and worked with several private organizations including Booz Allen Hamilton and Presidio. Prior to joining AWS, Derek served as the CTO of Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools in North Carolina. He was also the CTO for Frederick County Public Schools and Washington County Public Schools MD.

Tom Ryan has recently retired from Santa Fe Public Schools, in New Mexico, as Chief Information and Strategy Officer. He has co-founded, K12 Strategic Technology Advisory Group, to assist district leaders deliver educational success with technology, which is led by experienced school technology leaders. He has expertise in strategic planning and leadership, designing digital learning environments, technology infrastructure reviews.
