The COVID-19 pandemic upended the traditional education system seemingly overnight, forcing K-12 and higher education institutions to move to an online environment that could last far into the foreseeable future. In this new setting, communication, and collaboration among students, faculty, parents and other stakeholders have never been more critical. On June 4 at 10 am PT/1 pm ET, the Center for Digital Education and Iron Bow Technologies are joining together for an informative webcast to discuss how a unified communications management (UCM) solution can help education institutions combat some of the top challenges presented by the novel coronavirus, including:

  • Easing the transition to virtual learning by fostering collaboration and creating real connections between instructors and students
  • Getting consistent and timely information and alerts to all stakeholders to improve safety during the crisis

Josh has a 20+ year history in the IT networking and data center space, is a twice published best-selling author on collaboration technologies, and was the youngest person ever to attain the Cisco CCIE Voice certification. Josh is a frequent and distinguished public speaker on technology impact, predictive trends, and consulting. His experience spans the enterprise, healthcare, and government space working on some of worlds largest networks. Josh is a member of multiple advisory boards, including Cisco’s Technical Advisory board for over a decade, and routinely provides consulting to investors and technology research groups.

Jim Jorstad is a leading force in the innovative and effective use of technology and media for over twenty years. He has a B.S. with honors in Mass Communications and holds M.A. with honors in Instructional Design and Technology from the University of Iowa. He currently is the Director of Academic Technologies at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. Jim is responsible for integrating technology into teaching and learning, the creation and dissemination of social and rich media, learning space design, distance education, and involved in diverse innovative technology projects. He is a frequent lecturer and consultant for universities, organizations, and companies worldwide. Jim is a global journalist and film maker with his work appearing in major news outlets including CNN, MSNBC, Forbes, NPR, and numerous blogs. Jim has been a member of the editorial board for EDUCAUSE Quarterly and is a frequent presenter at national and international conferences. He is an EDUCAUSE Frye Fellow of 2005, one of 50 leading IT professionals chosen worldwide for the award. He has held numerous technology leadership positions within the University of Wisconsin System. In 2008, he was the recipient of the Mediasite UNLEASH Return on Investment Award.
